Maori Point Vineyard

Maori Point Pinot Noir 2012

$44.95

After beginning with a difficult frost in late spring, 2012 proved cooler than average, notwithstanding a few hot mid-summer days. The vines achieved balance with cooler temperatures by growing a smaller canopy of leaves and carrying a lower than average crop, thus intensifying flavours. The grapes were harvested by hand, and fermentation was performed by our native wild yeasts. The wine matured in french oak barrels, and was bottled without fining, filtering, or any other processing.

TASTING NOTES

Layered and generous. The nose of our 2012 Pinot Noir reveals blackberry, strawberry, and wood spice. The palate continues and broadens those themes, initially showing dark berry fruit, with background hints of tobacco leaf, vanilla and sous bois. Restrained acidity and supple tannins provide body and generosity. We expect this wine to age well for ten years after release.
