Maori Point Vineyard

Maori Point Pinot Noir 2011

$56.51

The 2011 growing season in Central Otago was unusual, with a dry spring leading to clear nights and multiple frosts. Summer was wet, thanks to cyclone Yasa. Fortunately, a dry and warm autumn allowed the grapes to finish their ripening in gentle conditions. The grapes were harvested by hand, and fermentation was performed by our native wild yeasts. The wine matured in french oak barrels, and was bottled without fining, filtering, or any other processing.

TASTING NOTES

Classic Pinot Noir aromatics, delicacy and vibrancy. The nose reveals raspberry and tart bright cherry, on a background of spice and floral notes. The palate integrates those fruit, spice and floral flavours, adding subtle earthiness. Good acidity provides precision and focus, and well-framed tannins provide structure to complement the long finish.  We expect this wine to age well for ten or more years after release.
